Camp Mimi was great - now I need a nap!

Just spent the last two days with my grandsons who are 5 & 8.  We had a blast! Went to the Ft. Wayne Zoo yesterday and had the most perfect weather ever.  The day was wonderful!  Kids had a great time and Mimi and Papa did too!  I highly recommend this zoo for a family outing.

Today we went to Shishewanna to get a Jo Jo pretzel AND a visit to the cheese factory.  Fun couple of days but it's back to work tomorrow!  Seriously need a nap and a full night's sleep so I can be at my peak tomorrow.

Feeling blessed to have been able to take a couple of days off to spend with my two little guys, who will be young men in the blink of an eye!

Home today

I RARELY ever stay home from work, but I did today with a sinus headache that was a killer.  Not sure which was worse, the headache OR the roofers tearing off the old shingles and POUNDING on the new ones!  Ugh!  Finally made it back to sleep this afternoon when the delivery truck came and delivered all the shingles!  It just wasn't my day.

My Creative Time - Throwback Thursday

The challenge from Throwback Thursday by My Creative Time was to use a retired cartridge.  I only had two, so I picked Tags, Boxes and More to make a gift tag.  I like the tags on Sweet Treats as they are two layered, however I could make the same thing with the Tags cartridge by cutting two tags, cutting one short and using a scalloped punch on the edge.  I just got in Black and White Cartridge for my Imagine and I couldn't resist printing the tag in two different patterns.  I sponged the edge with black ink for more definition.  I used Emma's Scalloped Edge Dye and Circle!  These are fabulous!  Then one of her stamp sets for the sentiment.  I added a little bling and sheer ribbon to finish my project.  Oh one last thing - I added a wobble!  Love those things and am seriously becoming addicted.

Thanks for looking.

For the Berrien County Youth Fair President

I bake a traditional shortbread sugar cookie that has now earned the title "Mimi Cookie" from my grandsons.  The Berrien County Youth Fair is this week in Michigan and I always bake a double batch to get my family through the week.  A little bird told me that the fair president sort of "liked" my cookies and would make several trips through the cattle barn to get a cookie.  This year, I made him his own container, just in case his golf cart has to go a different way on the fairgrounds.

I designed this on my Gypsy starting with the base from Elegant Edges.  I measured my lid and stored a square template in my Gypsy at 7.25 inches.  I saved it.  Then I started by "opening a template" and selected the scalloped edge from Elegant Edges and increased it in size until it fit my template.  I used Plantin School Book for the lettering and welded them together.  The ribbon was cut from Wild Card and I inked the edges with a deeper blue to make it stand out.  I used a stock stamp for the sentiment inside the ribbon.  I just used a circle punch for the center.  I "stitched" along the edges of the ribbon and put some dots on the lettering (not sure if that is showing up).  I attached the ribbon with a wobble (gosh I love those things!) and I'm really happy how it turned out.

Good luck to all the kids showing their animals and having their other projects judged this week.  I can't wait to see my boys tomorrow.

It's almost time for my boys to go to school!

I used something new on these two cards.  At least new to me!  It's the little "wobble" attachment which makes this little bird move.  It is so cute!  My youngest grandson is going to full day kindergarten and his card reads "Courage is always rewarded".  I want to send him a note of encouragement for his first day of school.  The other card is for my oldest grandson and his say's "Wisdom unlocks the door of imagination".  Both sentiments come from My Creative Time's stamp line.  I love them.  I used 3 Birds on Parade for the little bird.  This is a really cute cartridge.  Thanks for looking at my cards - enjoy!

Paper Cutz #104 Challenge

This challenge was to use red, turquoise, black & white only.  Actually this was easier than I thought it would be!  I pulled the colors and then I had to decide what to do.  Mary shares a scripture on Tuesdays and I decided to use that on this card.  It ended up being a 5x5 card.  No cricut cuts on this, just punches, buttons, sheer ribbon, and a prima flower.  Thanks for looking!

Cricut Cardz Challenge #87

The challenge was to make a thank you card using hearts but not using pink or red for colors.  I knew instantly I wanted to use black and white but I wasn't sure what else to do.  I decided to make a shaped card with Elegant Edges and weld the two forms together to make the card base.  I picked up a super pack of black and white papers and I couldn't wait to use.  It actually was my inspiration for this black and white card.  I cut the heart from one of the cake cartridges but I can't remember which one.  I added 3 rhinestones on the heart because I love bling!  Then I used My Creative Time's stamps and dye to add the sentiment.  When I looked at the card I decided that instead of a thank you card, I needed to make it about love.  I stamped another heart on the inside of the card.  I hope you like my entry.

My Pinkalicous Blog Hop Entry

The idea for this card came from Mary at Cardz TV.  She has a link on her blog every week for another talented lady who puts a digital scripture on her blog for free every week.  I loved this scripture from Psalms and I loved the round card.  I was totally excited as I thought I had the cartridge she mentioned but I didn't so I created my scalloped card on my Gypsy by welding two scalloped cirecles together.  Then I adjusted the plain circles until I had the right sizes.  For the challenge from MPS she said to create something that was our style so this is what I came up with.  I love to add ribbon on almost all of my cards.  I also love bling, therefore the liquid pearls on the ribbon.  I love punches so you see the strip at the bottom of the card.  The Prima flowers represent all the bling I like to add.

I hope you like the card and I especially want to thank Mary for turning me on to shaped cards!

Cricut Cardz Challenge

Cricut Cardz Challenge this week was to use fruit on a card.  I love this pear from the Preserves cartridge.  I have made several anniversary cards for the summer months using this cartridge.  The pear was cut out with the Imagine and I must say I love the Imagine for things like this.  I just select the colors and print and cut!  It is perfect.  The sentiment is from My Pink Stamper Fruit and Veggie Punnies.  It is the perfect companion to this cartridge.  All layers of the pear have been inked on the edges to add some dimension and I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder that goes with the cartridge.  Isn't it cute!  This card is getting ready to be sent to one of my bestie friends!  Thanks for looking.  I'd love to read your comments.  Grab a cup of coffee or glass of lemonade and rest a bit!
