Countdown to Christmas!

It's hard to beleive that Christmas is just around the corner, but since the cold weather has arrived, it feels like it!  Had a wonderful Thanksgiving with my son & family.  Now to get ready for Christmas exchange with them in one week.  That means the fall things come down and Christmas goes up!  It will be a busy week with work, and then to have the grandsons on Saturday night and celebrate with them on Sunday.  I can't wait!  I will try and get some extra sleep this week so I am ready for my boys!

A beautiful fall Sunday afternoon!

Went to church last night so I really got the benefit of that extra hour of sleep.  Fell so toasty warm in bed, but my morning cup of Pumpkin Spice was calling my name.

Bills needed to get paid and I did a load of laundry.  Enjoyed Country Top 20 Countdown of videos on TV with Abigail.  She likes country too!  Hope to clean my craft room (the loft) this afternoon.  I've had a few projects I've done after work this week and I always have paper scraps to put away.

Sun is shining and it's the perfect day!  I am blessed!

My Sunday afternoon therapy!

My BFF was making cards for the church bizarre and I told her I would try and find a snowman and do the cutting on my Cricut.  After I got hers done, I started looking for a different snowman so I could make some cards on my own.  The snowman I used on my cards was cut on my Cricut with a program called Sure Cuts a Lot.  I discovered that cutting an image is only the beginning of my creations, but I must tell you, I am amazed every time I look at the cards.  Peachy Keen Stamps provided me the face for my snowman.  I used my Cuttlebug to dry emboss the first layer of paper.  The pattern paper was just something I had her and I used a portion of a 8.5x11 sheet.  It is used just to add some interest.  I colored in the nose and gave some blush on the cheeks of the snowman.  Then I used Stampin Up Dazzling Diamonds glitter, Crystal Effects & stickles to add some bling.  I buy ribbon from Michaels when it's on sale so I always have a stash to use on my cards.  To top off my cards and to add the sentiment, I use My Pink Stamper clear stamps.  These sayings/words are absolutely the best I've ever used.  The phrases are great, but the fact she uses different fonts make them (in my mind) the best ever.  I rarely ever use any of my vast collection of Stampin Up word stamps at all anymore.  I just love Robyn's creativity and I think they MAKE my cards.  I hope you enjoy my creations.

I want to share that I make cards and I send out many cards all the time.  I feel that if I take the time to come up with one card (colors of paper, stamps or cut outs, use of embellishments etc.) and I have scraps to use up, I might as well make several cards at once.  I've started to take pictures and sometimes I keep a card for future idea.  My goal is to start scrapbooking this winter as I've only ever done a little.

Just visited the ED!

I just came home from a visit to the ED and my old friends.  I've had my new job for 3 months and I was really missing my buddies so I had to visit.  I baked some banana bread and it was even still warm when I got there.  My oh my what dedicated nurses!  It was wonderful being on their team, but my heart goes out to them as they work short handed most nights and those 12 hours shifts can be LONG!

If you know a nurse, give them a hug.  Unless you are in the profession, you will never know what they go through!

I love the weekends!

Don't get me wrong, I do love my work too, but the weekends are a great respite.  It was the perfect fall weekend.  Leaves are blowing around, we had a little rain, but the sun came out this afternoon and temperature hit 70.  Not a bad fall day at all.

I baked the most awesome banana cupcakes!  I realzie they came from a box, but last weekend I made two batches and both of them flopped!  What person can't bake cupcakes from a box?  I was really thinking I was losing it.  Anyway, I redeemed myself today.

I hope you are all having a great fall.  Thanksgiving will be here soon.

Memory game from Halloween napkins

Just had to share the memory game I made using Halloween napkins.  My grandsons were here last night for dinner and we always have to do some kind of crafting.  As I looked at the cute napkins I had bought earlier in the day, I realized all the images were in squares and it would make a great Halloween Memory game.  So I cut out the squares and taped them on brown cardstock, then laminated the cards.  I made the cute little box from my Tags Boxes and More cartridge.  The brown base for the card was cut @ 2.5 inches.  The box was cut @ 4 inches on my Cricut.  I used another Halloween image on the front to make it look cute.  I plan to do the same thing for Christmas.

Easy and fun!

Happy Friday!

Yippee it's Friday!  I hope to have some time with my two grandsons.  Maybe we can make some Halloween wrappers for cupcakes!  Sounds fun to me!

More cards!

Picture of my card!

Winter challenge from My Pink Stamper

This is the first time I have participated in a challenge AND the first time I've tried to link my creation. Let's hope I get it right. Robyn challenged us to come up with a winter creation. I designed a card using the Joys of the Season cricut cartridge. I also used my Cuttlebug to dry emboss the first layer. Not sure if it shows up in the picture but I used a sponge and highlighted the edges of the mittens to make them pop a little, I added a snowflake with glitter on top and of course had to use some stickles. Robyn's Winter Punnies had the perfect sentiment for my card. Thank you Robyn for letting me try!

Fall is here!

So many changes since I've last been on my blog. I had a great time with my grandchildren at Camp Mimi. I have a new job. AND my youngest son got married two weeks ago.

Today I got to spend time in my loft where I do my stamping and scrapbooking projects. I am posting a picture of what I've been working on for my staff at work. It is a cute Halloween gift. I can't take credit for the idea as it came from someone on the Cricut site. I had to tweak it a bit and use the items I have on hand. Since my Cricut stopped working, Provocraft had me return it and I'm still waiting on my replacement. I needed a couple of cards today so it became a challenge to create my cards without my Cricut. I think they turned out pretty good!

Have a great fall weekend. There is definite crispness in the air. Winter is looming!

Camp Mimi was great

It's been a busy week but a great week. I got to spend 3 days with my 2 grandsons and my niece. We did fun crafts, played together, sat out at the fire pit and ate way too much. Then I got a new job that I'm really looking forward to. It's been an exciting couple of days. Although I love ED nursing, I am ready to get back on a day schedule so I can get out of this fog I find myself in on way too many days. Only 6 more shifts at the ED and then a normal day schedule! Yippee!

Tomorrow starts Camp Mimi

So looking forward to spending some time with my grandsons. My niece has arrived today and we had some fun crafting and getting ready for our two little campers. I think the projects are all ready, now I just need boys. We start camp with an outing to the JoJo's pretzels in Shipshewanna IN. They are the best soft pretzels around. Can't wait!

So glad to be home

Long night in the ED last night. I will be glad when this holiday weekend is over. I am going back in tonight to help out a friend. It's her anniversary and she needed a couple hours off with the hubby for a steak dinner. I'd love to be home but I know what it's like when you need some time off.

I am still preparing for camp Mimi and can't wait to see my grandsons for a few days. Life is good!

Camp Mimi coming soon!

My two little grandsons will be visiting me soon for Camp Mimi. I started Camp Mimi when I remembered how special my summers used to be as a child when I would visit my grandma for a week. I was the star of the week and it was something I have always remembered. My two grandsons, 3 & 6 will be with me for about 2-3 days. We will bake, spend the day in our jams, take a couple of field trips and craft. They love the Cricut and have each picked out 12 critters to put together from the Create a Critter cart. Today I spent the time doing all the precuts and putting them in an envelope for storage. I have learned that when I have both of them they get anxious so this will save a little time. We also have to make sugar cookies as this is a staple when they come for a visit. Another project will be to paint terra cotta pots and decorate for their mom. I am having a lot of fun planning for this time with my two special little guys. It was a good day.

Almost Ready!

I am giving a bridal shower this weekend for my future daughter-in-law. It's been a busy couple of weeks here while we prepare our home. There has been painting to be done, carpets to be cleaned, etc. etc. I am in the final stretch. I work the next two nights, so I'm just getting ready for lay down for my nap before my 12 hours shift begins. Can't wait for the next two nights to be done so I can see my sweet Ashley and welcome her mom to Indiana.

God bless!

Short shift!

Just home from a short princess shift of 4 hours. I still have no voice and this is starting to get annoying! Ha Ha! Well I didn't win the Cricut in the giveaway from mypinkstamper.com but I am happy for the person that did. Enjoy!

I made a couple of cards today and am trying out my wings so I can enter them at our local county fair in July.

Off to bed!

Father's Day card

Here is a Father's Day card I made for my grandsons to give their dad. They show sheep and they are called Southdowns. The body of the sheep has antiuqe stickles to show the brown fur and the base of the lamb is made with dark brown paper rather than black. I am very new to using my Cricut and Gypsy so this took me a while but I still love the process. Can't wait to get better!

Home early!

I'm feeling good that I've been able to leave work early tonight. I would normally be working until 7AM but our census was low which allowed me to come home. Hopefully I will be able to shower and hit the sheets and SLEEP! Much to do this week as I prepare for my son and fiance visit!
